U.S. Department of Commerce Initiates Investigations into Paper Shopping Bags from Multiple Countries

The U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) has officially launched investigations into potential antidumping duty (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) violations concerning specific paper shopping bags. These investigations, initiated on June 21, 2023, will focus on products originating from Cambodia, China (People\'s Republic of China), Colombia, India, Malaysia, Portugal, Taiwan, Turkey (Republic of Turkey), and Vietnam (Socialist Republic of Vietnam). The purpose of these investigations is to assess whether these countries have been involved in unfair trade practices, such as dumping or receiving unfair subsidies, which could adversely impact the domestic paper shopping bag industry.
